Jebel Ali Golf
The 9-hole, par 36, championship standard Resort Course is situated within the
idyllic grounds of the Resort. Designed by Peter Harradine and opened in 1998,
the Resort Course has hosted the world’s best players as part of the official
curtain raiser to the European PGA Tour event, the Dubai Desert Classic.
Each hole is uniquely landscaped with exotic trees, shrubs and original desert
flora and the course also features a saltwater lake which comes into play on
five holes. The wooden gazebos, views of the Arabian Gulf and peacocks which
freely roam the fairways have added a special charm to this course that is a
fair and exciting challenge for golfers of all abilities.
Standard of Play
The Resort is available to players of the following standard:
• Holder of an official handicap certificate (max 28 for men, 45 for ladies)
• Holder of a current playing certificate or a very experienced non-handicap
player
• Beginners and non-golfers are not permitted to play on the Resort Course but
are welcome to use the practice facilities or take golf lessons.
Speed of Play
Players are requested to play at a speed that ensures enjoyment for all other
course players. To facilitate the flow of play during busy periods, players will
be requested to make up into four-ball tee time groups.
Golf Carts
Players may ride or walk the course. Electric carts and pull trolleys are
available for hire.
Equipment
Quality sets of men’s, ladies’ and junior clubs may be hired for the range or
course. Bag Storage is available – clubs are cleaned and safely stored
overnight, on request.
Attire
Appropriate golf attire is required for all players at all times. Spikeless or
soft spike shoes must be worn.
Pro Shop
High quality merchandise from some of the leading suppliers of golf, leisure and
sportswear are available together with branded gifts and mementos.
Tee-times
From October to April the Resort Course is open from 7am until nightfall, and
from May to September, from 6.30am until nightfall. Players are requested to
book in advance and at the time of booking, to provide information on handicap,
whether playing 9 or 18 holes
Palm Tree Court & Spa Extension
Along with the positioning of the Palm Tree Court & Spa as a member of ‘The
Leading Hotels of the World’, comes another very exciting project for this
beautiful property as the hotel will be enhanced and expanded with a luxury
extension. The 76 new luxury units at the Palm Tree Court & Spa will include a
selection of junior suites in addition to some very special one bedroom and two
bedroom suites as part of the new inventory.
The new project will be located on the sand stretch on the western border of the
resort (Abu Dhabi / Dubai Waterfront side of Palm Tree Court & Spa). Hoarding
will be placed to screen off the area which will be affected in future however
the first phase of the project (late February to March 2008) will comprise the
fairly academic process of soil testing which will not cause any disturbance to
our guests in the resort.
Once physical construction of the new wing commences in the next few weeks, all
access to the site will be from a separate entrance outside the resort and work
will take place during daylight hours only from 10am to 5.30pm. While a firm
date for the physical construction has not been finalised, it is expected to
commence around early June 2008 although at present conditions we do not
anticipate any significant impact to the enjoyment of our guests during their
stay at the Palm Tree Court & Spa.
In our efforts to continue the upgrading and beautification of the Jebel Ali
Golf Resort & Spa, we are extremely pleased to advise you that the Club Joumana
Sports Café and marina pavements will undergo a light refurbishment. This
relaxed restaurant/bar overlooking the marina will receive an interior
decoration update which will start from mid-May until approximately 10 July. As
the restaurant and surrounding areas are removed from the immediate hotel
vicinity we do not envisage any inconvenience or disturbance for your guests.
With regards to the Palm Tree Court & Spa extension, we are pleased to advise
you that the process of soil testing for the extension’s standalone restaurant
will be conducted from 24 – 27 May. As with the previous soil testing phase, the
area will naturally be hoarded off and the process will only be conducted
between 10am and 6pm with very limited audio disturbance.
